Things We Like - Seiko Giveaway
The “Things We Like” segment is a new experimental feature on The UVM Podcast that we are testing to see whether listeners enjoy this different style of episode and want us to continue doing more of them in the future. The concept is simple: Steve and Nick sit down and talk about products, gear, tools, technology, watches, books, and other items they genuinely find interesting, useful, well made, historically significant, or simply enjoyable to own and use. Many of the items naturally connect to the culture and realities of the Utility Vegetation Management industry, field work, travel, and the lifestyles of the people who work in and around the utility world. Some episodes may focus on rugged field gear, others on craftsmanship, innovation, history, or just things that make people smile when they use them. This first episode featuring Davey Tree and the three green Seiko watches is our way of testing the concept and seeing what listeners think.

We would like to thank Davey Tree for helping select the three watches featured in this giveaway and for generously purchasing the watches for our listeners. Thanks to Davey Tree, each of the 3 winners will also receive “mystery” Davey swag bags.
And finally, each winner will receive a watch travel case, embossed with “The UVM Podcast” logo, from our friends at Mirage Luxury Travel .
Seiko King Turtle
The Seiko King Turtle is a modern evolution of Seiko’s legendary professional dive watches from the 1970s and has become one of the most respected tool watches in the world. Known for its distinctive cushion-shaped case and rugged construction, the King Turtle is designed to handle real-world abuse while remaining comfortable on the wrist. It features 200 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown positioned at 4 o’clock for added comfort, highly legible hands and markers, and Seiko’s famous Lumibrite lume that glows intensely in low light conditions. Powered by an automatic mechanical movement with approximately 41 hours of power reserve, the King Turtle has earned a reputation as a dependable “go anywhere” watch trusted by divers, military personnel, outdoor workers, and watch enthusiasts alike. Its green dial and matching green rubber strap made it a perfect fit for this special Davey Tree giveaway. VIDEO REVIEW

Seiko Alpinist
The Seiko Alpinist is one of the most respected and recognizable watches in Seiko’s history, originally introduced in 1959 for Japanese mountain climbers and outdoor adventurers long before GPS or smartphones existed. The modern Alpinist combines rugged field-watch capability with refined styling, making it equally at home in the woods, the field, or a business meeting. This particular green dial version has become a favorite among watch enthusiasts worldwide because of its unique design, cathedral hands, internal compass bezel, and rich sunburst dial that changes dramatically in different lighting. Powered by an automatic mechanical movement with an impressive 70-hour power reserve, the Alpinist also features sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 200 meters of water resistance, and Seiko’s reputation for building durable, reliable watches that can last for generations. Seiko Mojito
The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Mojito is one of Seiko’s most visually striking and elegant watches, inspired by the atmosphere and craftsmanship of Tokyo’s famous cocktail bars. Part of Seiko’s Presage line, the Mojito features a textured green dial designed to resemble the colors and reflections of a freshly made mojito cocktail, creating a dramatic appearance that changes beautifully depending on the lighting. Unlike the rugged King Turtle or field-oriented Alpinist, the Mojito leans toward refined everyday wear and classic dress watch styling while still maintaining Seiko’s reputation for quality and reliability. The watch features an automatic mechanical movement with approximately 41 hours of power reserve, a compact and highly wearable case size, and a rich brown leather strap with a deployment clasp. The Mojito has become a favorite among collectors because it delivers exceptional craftsmanship, elegance, and value at a surprisingly accessible price point. VIDEO REVIEW
